We worked with the formal repetition of natural and man-made patters, using images from cities, landscapes and human body parts (particularly brain cells) focusing on the outstanding formal resemblance between each other regardless of the dramatic differences in size and scale.

The piece resulted in an illuminated object that, by using Petri Dishes and translucent images, made reference to a microscopic sense of scale. Playing with this assumption, the sense of scale was broken or displaced when the content was, for example, a macro-scale image such as the aerial photograph of a city, landscape, etc.

If a DENDRITE SPINE was the size of a HELICONEA CARIBEAE (12cm) the total amount of neurons in the brain would occupy an approximate distance of 120Km, which is equivalent to the distance from Toronto to Niagara.

If a DENDRITE were the size of a DANDELION (4cm²) the total amount of neurons in the brain would occupy an area equivalent to HALF of Manhattan.
